Administrators must be connected to the NIH network to access the training material below. Please read through and sign the Training Materials you need access for. PDF documents on this page require the free Adobe Reader.

Sponsorship Training

In the PIV process, the Sponsor acts on behalf of NIH to request an Applicant be issued an ID badge. Training must be completed and a signed certificate submitted to the HSPD-12 Program Office before a PIV Sponsor can request a badge for an Applicant.

First, individuals will have to be added as an "Administrative Officer (AO) Sponsor" in NED by his/her AO first before he/she can be added as a sponsor by DPSAC. ONLY individuals with an AO Sponsor role in NED are eligible to be HHS ID Badge/PIV Card Sponsors.

Next, Administrative Officers (AOs) who wish to obtain sponsor authority must complete the sponsor training and e-mail a copy of your signed certificate to hspd12@od.nih.gov. Upon receipt of the certificate, a DPSAC representative will authorize the AO as a Sponsor if he/she is listed in NED.
