Closed on Federal Holidays and for lunch from 12p.m. to 1p.m.
Before Your Visit
- For U.S. Citizens: Ensure that your Requestor enters your information into the Visitor Management application. This is only needed once per visitor.
- For U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders): Your host/escort must submit your visit request at least 3 business days prior to the planned visit. Confirm this registration with your host, as failure to meet this timeline will result in the US Army rejecting your entry at the Gate.
- For Non-U.S. Citizens: Ensure that your Requestor requests approval for your visit by entering your information into the Visitor Management application 30 business days in advance for each visit. HHS/NIH Access Control and LBR Access Control will contact you separately concerning additional information needed for the visit to the Army base and the NCI campus. Failure to provide this information 15 business days before your visit will result in rejection of the visit request.

When You Arrive (Parking and Visitor Instructions)
Please arrive at the Fort Detrick Campus at least 30 minutes before your appointment to allow time to go through the Visitor Control Center and NCI Building 426, and to find parking.
- All visitors: First, you must enter through the Visitor Control Center, which is located directly inside the U.S. Army Fort Detrick Nallin Farm Gate (9000 Amber Dr, Frederick, MD 21702). You must present an acceptable government ID. Foreign Nationals must present a valid passport and visa. After, you must proceed to the security kiosk at the NCI Building 426, where you will provide identification to the security staff who will issued you a visitor pass. You must obtain a pass from Building 426 for each day of the visit. You must obtain a visitor pass first before proceeding to our building (426 Miller Drive, Frederick, MD 21702).
- For U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) and Non-U.S. Citizens: Your approved host must arrange to meet you at the Fort Detrick Visitor Control Center. Your host will need to escort you to the NCI Visitor Kiosk in Building 426, where you will need to provide identification to the security staff and you will be issued a visitor pass. You MUST be escorted at all times while on NIH property. Escorts can be Government or subcontracted employees and must possess a valid NIH PIV badge with a white or green stripe.
- Parking: Visitors may park in any spaces on the main Frederick campus, with the exception of those marked "DOD" or "Reserved." Parking is free.
