Important Notice:  Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the NIH Employee Transportation Services Office has immediately suspended auditing of transit benefits usage.

On May 1, 2021, the monthly parking placards for Transhare members is discontinued. Members should use their Transhare benefits when commuting to work. However, we will continue to provide flexibilities for our Transhare members. The number of temporary permits allowed for each member has been increased to twelve (12) per quarter.

To print a one-day permit, logging into This allows the driver to park in a General parking space. Please do not park in Red, Carpool, Handicapped, or other Reserved spaces unless your permit authorizes you to do so.

Employees on a fulltime telework schedule or do not feel safe commuting by Metro or bus, and prefer to drive, should terminate their participation in the NIH Transhare program and request a parking permit.

Effective January 1, 2020, the NIH Transhare Program maximum benefit level has been increased from $265 to $270! Commuting costs will be verified by the WMATA Trip Planner and past use of NIH subsidies.
