Overview

The Office of the Director provides leadership, direction, and management to ORS’ 22 Divisions, Offices, & Branches as well as communication and outreach. The OD establishes and implements policy and allocates the resources required to support NIH’s research mission and programmatic goals.

Program and Employee Services (PES)

The Office of Program and Employee Services oversees a wide array of programs and services that benefit the entire NIH community. These services assist NIH employees, contractors, patients and visitors in their day-to-day work and well-being.

Worksite enrichment programs including food, fitness, childcare and transportation services

Immigration-related services for visiting foreign scientists and the NIH research community

Division of Mail Management Services (DMMS)

Mail security screening, receipt, sorting, and delivery of USPS mail and inter-office communications

Events Management Branch (EMB)

Comprehensive conference and meeting support services

Cross platform visual communication solutions

Security and Emergency Response (SER)

The Office of Security and Emergency Response is dedicated to supporting the NIH’s biomedical research goal, by providing a safe work environment for NIH employees, visitors, research and facilities. SER’s comprehensive oversight of security and life safety operations protects NIH staff, visitors and facilities and allows safe, secure fulfillment of the biomedical research mission at all NIH campuses.

Protection from personal attacks, loss of assets, criminal activity and acts of terrorism

Scientific Resources (SR)

The Office of Scientific Resources leads, coordinates, provides, and manages scientific resources and regulatory activities for NIH employees. SR also interfaces with the NIH Office of Intramural Research. The SR resources and services directly support NIH’s mission to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life and reduce the burdens of illness and disability.
