Clinical Center Employees

Clinical center employees are individuals who work in the NIH Clinical Center whose duties may cause them to interact with radioactive material and radiation-emitting devices (i.e. x-ray machines) during the personal care or medical treatment of patients. These clinical center employees must obtain authorization by the Division of Radiation Safety to work with radioactive materials and operate radiation-producing equipment.

Each individual working in an area or engaging in activities where the possibility of radiation exposure or contact with radioactive materials exists has a responsibility to minimize radiation exposure by acting in accordance with the requirements of the DRS, the Radiation Safety Guide, and those established by the Radiation Safety Committee.
