Conference Services & Facilities

​​NIH Events Management provides comprehensive conference and meeting support services for NIH conference facilities on the Bethesda campus and surrounding locale.

Conference Facilities

The Division of Events Management Services currently manages over 70 conference rooms and meeting spaces across 12 NIH facilities in and around the main NIH campus in Bethedsa, MD.

The use of the NIH centrally managed conference facilities is pre-paid by the NIH OD and IC through an annual assessment based on three-year historical use. Non-NIH Federal Government users will be charged the published room rates via an Inter Agency Agreement.

Building 1

The James A. Shannon building, also known as Building 1, is an administrative center for NIH. 

Building 1 contains Wilson Hall and conference room 151.

Building 10

​The NIH Clinical Center, or Building 10, is the world's largest clinical research hospital. Building 10 contains the  Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) conference spaces as well as large venues like Lipsett Amphitheater and Masur Auditorium.

Building 31 - Wing C, Floor 6

​Building 31, the Claude D. Pepper Building, was completed in 1962 and provides office space for many institute directors, their immediate staff, and NIH-supporting central services. The building also houses a dining center as well as an enrollment and badging center.  There are seven conferencce rooms avaliable for individual use and they have the capacity to be combined to accomodate larger groups and events.

Building 35

Building 35A, or the John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center (PNRC II), is a state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary biomedical research facility focused on neuroscience research. The building is named after long-time champion for biomedical research, the late Congressman John Edward Porter. 

There are​ four conference spaces that can be reserved individually or combined ​to accomodate various events and groups.

Building 40

Building 40, or the Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center (VRC), was named after Arkansas Senator Dale Bumpers and his wife Betty, who spent more than 25 years promoting worldwide childhood immunizations.

Building 40 has one centerally managed conference space avaliable for reservation.

Building 45

The William H. Natcher Building (Building 45) is home to the NIH Visitor Center and the Nobel Laureate Exhibit Hall. Building 45 includes 12 conference spaces, a 1,000-seat auditorium, and the state-of-the-art multi-use Natcher Conference Center.

Building 49

​Building 49, also known as the Silvio O. Conte Building, houses the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Transgenic Core Facility as well as the Laboratory of Neuropsychology. 

Building 49 has one centerally managed conference space avaliable for reservation.

Building 50 image
Building 50

Building 50, also known as the Louis Stokes Laboratories, is a six-story facility built in 2001 and designed specifically around the needs of the NIH intramural research community.

Building 50 has one centerally managed conference space avaliable for reservation.




Building 60 image
Building 60

Building 60, or the Mary Woodard Lasker Center for Health Research and Education, was constructed in 1923 and is the oldest building on the Bethesda campus. Building 60 is also colloquially referred to as “the Convent” and “the Cloisters.” ​

​Building 60 has several centerally managed conference and event spaces that are avaliable for reseravation and use.
