Researchers and radiation workers who intend to engage with radioactive material and operate ionizing radiation-producing equipment at the NIH must first receive authorization by the Division of Radiation Safety.
Each individual working in an area or engaging in activities with the potential of radiation exposure or contact with radioactive materials has a responsibility to act in accordance with the requirements of the DRS, as determined by the Radiation Safety Committee.
