In compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973*, NIH provides accessibility services across NIH to ensure everyone can access NIH webpages and other digital media content when joining meetings and other events. Services are delivered under contract and include:
- Real-time Live Captioning (also known as CART)
- Post-Production Captioning
- Verbatim Transcription
- Audio Description (for the Blind)
All services are performed by career captioners with training and certifications in medical and research captioning and experience developing and using NIH-specific lexicons. NO automated text to speech tools are used.
