2024 NIH Safety, Health and Wellness Day - Tuesday, June 18

The 2024 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Safety, Health and Wellness Day will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11:00am – 2:00pm, at the 6th Floor Conference Center of Building 31, C Wing on the NIH Bethesda campus. Everyone is welcome.


This Year's Event

The focus of this year's event is to enhance the NIH employee's awareness of belonging, inclusion, well-being, fitness and safety in the NIH community. This popular event, held in person and virtually, celebrates and brings awareness to health, safety and wellness for our workforce and is held every June celebrating National Safety Month.

  • 11:05am: Keynote and Welcome Remarks (hybrid)
    • Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, NIH Director; ORS and NCCIH Leadership
  • 11:15am: Mission First, Safety Always Awards (hybrid)
    • Division of Occupational Health and Safety Director, Jessica McCormick-Ell, Ph.D.
  • 11:30am to 2:00pm: Mini-Sessions begin in succession (hybrid)

Visit exhibits featuring NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices, hybrid mini-information sessions, two movement classes lead by R&W instructors, “Around the World" food tastings, a “Paint-by-Numbers" 8CRE belonging exercise and more, as we foster a culture of inclusivity. 

The NIH Safety, Health & Wellness Day Event is FREE to all who attend. Everyone is welcome. Registration for the event is recommended but not required. To ensure a spot in the Mini-Sessions, we do recommend registering if attending in person, to kindly help us track interest as we re-imagine this annual event for future offerings.

Hosts, Sponsors and Support Staff

NIH Safety, Health and Wellness Day is hosted by the Office of Research Services (ORS) and, our 2024 co-sponsor, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), in collaboration with the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES), 8 Changes for Racial Equity (8CRE), Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO) and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI). Additional staff supporting the day include the Occupational Safety and Health Committee, the Laboratory Sustainability Working Group, NIH Food & Dining Services, NIH Recreation & Welfare Program (R&W), the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS), Wellness@NIH and more.
