Fieldprint is a third party that DPSAC uses to capture an individual's Crossmatch fingerprints during the individual's Prescreening process. Fieldprint has over 1,300 stationary sites with Crossmatch fingerprinting machines across all 50 states within the nation. This allows individuals to choose from Fieldprint's remote locations that may be more accommodating.
Fieldprint can only be used by applicants who are more than 50 miles from an NIH PIV Card Issuance Facility (PCIF) and need to submit Crossmatch fingerprints for their Prescreening or background investigations. Applicants may find PCIFs located at the NIH Main Office Location in Building 31 and at Other DPSAC Locations (PCIFs).
Applicants located under 50 miles from an NIH PCIF are encouraged to travel to an NIH PCIF to submit fingerprints for Prescreening or background investigations. Applicants may find PCIFs located at the NIH Main Office Location in Building 31 and at Other DPSAC Locations (PCIFs).
How is this beneficial?
Applicants can leverage usage of Fieldprint to collect Crossmatch fingerprints needed for their FBI criminal history check portion of Prescreening. This saves remote applicants time by having them complete the FBI fingerprint check portion in advance of their start date, at a location closer to them.
Applicants who use Fieldprint will still be required to complete Badge Enrollment and Badge Authorization/Issuance at an NIH PCIF. Therefore, in order to schedule their Badge Issuance appointment on the same day as their Badge Enrollment, remote applicants must:
1. Utilize Fieldprint to submit Crossmatch fingerprints in advance during the Prescreening phase,
2. Submit all of their case documents, and
3. Complete any needed corrections and must have completed the DPSAC Prescreening requirements favorably.
Please note: Applicants can only pick up their badge on or after Entry on Duty/start date listed in NED.
What if the remote applicant does not provide their Crossmatch fingerprints during Prescreening?
If the remote applicant is not able to use Fieldprint to provide their Crossmatch fingerprints during Prescreening in advance, then they will need to travel to an NIH PCIF to provide their Crossmatch fingerprints. Applicants may find PCIFs located at the NIH Main Office Location in Building 31 and at Other DPSAC Locations (PCIFs).
As a result, this will add additional days of processing, due to the amount of time it takes to receive the results from running the FBI fingerprint check after the individual submits their Crossmatch fingerprints. As a reminder, the FBI fingerprint check is one of the Prescreening requirements that must be done before DPSAC can issue the applicant their badge.
How can a remote individual use Fieldprint?
1. Have the individual send an email to ORSFingerprintService@mail.nih.gov with their name, zip code, and NIH ID, and ask to be set up with instructions for our Fieldprint service.
2. A representative from our office will reply within one (1) business day. Please follow the email instructions given and bring two forms of Government issued ID (one must be a photo ID) to the Fieldprint appointment. Setting up an Fieldprint appointment is quick and easy!
3. Once the individual completes their Fieldprint fingerprint appointment, their fingerprint results will be transmitted to our office automatically approximately three (3) business days after collection.
Please note: Fieldprint services cannot be used to satisfy the individual's PIV/RLA Badge Enrollment requirement, as Fieldprint is not an NIH PCIF. If Fieldprint was used to obtain Crossmatch fingerprints for Prescreening, the individual will still need to complete their PIV/RLA Badge Enrollment at an NIH PCIF once authorized in order to be issued their PIV/RLA badge.
