Thank you to those who have already donated. Through your donations, the NIH has already donated almost 34,000 pounds of food. We are off to a great start on meeting our 2023 goal of 118,000 pounds of food. Join us on August 8 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the NIH Community Market located just outside of the Building 10 South Lobby to meet our partners who directly benefit from your generous donations. The Children's Inn and Safra Lodge will provide information on how they support the NIH mission. Be sure to spin the Food Trivia Wheel and test your knowledge. Other NIH partners who will also be attending: Can't make the event? No worries, check out the NIH Feds Feed Families website to learn more about our local and off-campus location partners in need, how to locate a food bank in your area or anywhere in the United States. Don't forget to record your generous donation on the Feds Feed Families hub. Supervisor Well-Being Peer Circles Begin August 8 |
As a supervisor, are you feeling burnout and overwhelmed? Are you looking for an opportunity to discuss your current stressors/challenges with other supervisors? Are you searching for ways to take care of yourself while also managing life and work expectations? If you answered yes to one or all the questions, sign up today to meet and discuss with other supervisors on how to sustain your well-being at work and at home while meeting the needs of your staff, organization and life.
The Supervisor Well-Being Peer Circles will occur weekly on Tuesdays at 9 AM, for six sessions, beginning August 8 and continuing until September 12. Space is limited. Summer weather is in full swing, making it a perfect time to enjoy free online "Fitness for You" classes. Whether you want to join live or watch later, all NIH staff can choose from a variety of classes for all levels of fitness. If you want to connect with other NIH staff who share your interest in fitness and well-being, you can sign up for the Wellness@NIH listserv and the Wellness@NIH Facebook group. | Immigration Basics Seminar for Administrative Staff – August 23 | The Division of International Services (DIS) is hosting an Immigration Basics Seminar for administrative staff on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 11:00AM – 12:30PM via WebEx. The objective of this seminar is to provide insight into the processes that NIH Visiting Program scientists navigate before their arrival and during their stay at the NIH.
This seminar provides: Basic information about the U.S. immigration system Brief historical overview of immigration practices and laws, as well as the agencies involved in the process Visual display of the various immigration controlling documents (passports, visas, admission evidence, EAD, DS-2019, I-20, approval notices, etc.), as well as explanations about their significance and how they are obtained Understanding the difference between visa and status, the importance of compliance, and possible consequences of non-compliance.

| Lunch and Learn Webinar - Living with Purpose: Embracing the Later Years with Dignity and Fulfillment – August 24 | As we age, it's crucial to acknowledge that life's purpose does not diminish but evolves. On Thursday, July 24, from 1 PM to 2 PM, participants will explore the significance of living purposefully during the later stages of life and how older adults can maintain their physical and mental well-being while engaging in meaningful activities that bring joy and fulfillment. We will also address the importance of providing adequate support for individuals who may require assistance due to the challenges that aging can bring.
