Welcome Monique Canale as New OIIT Infrastructure Branch Chief

Please join me in welcoming Monique Canale as the new Infrastructure Branch Chief for the Office of Innovation and Information Technology (OIIT).

Mrs. Canale comes to ORS from the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command (ISEC) Fort Detrick Engineering Directorate (FDED) where she served as the LAN Team Group Lead and led the Base Emergency Communications System (BECS) team and the Defense Health Agency (DHA) team, guiding a team of engineers to support medical and life safety missions.

Mrs. Canale has over 22 years of experience in information technology. She has spent much of her career working for the public sector, where she gained extensive experience in information technology management, employee relations, contracting, budgeting and customer support.

During her time at the ISEC, Mrs. Canale was responsible for overseeing two major projects in FDED. The Defense Health Agency project was the largest project that FDED supported. Mrs. Canale led teams of government engineers and contractors to refresh LAN/WLAN infrastructures in hospitals and clinics CONUS and OCONUS. She managed a budget of $32 million annually and oversaw 22 federal project engineers to support the long-standing DHA customer.

Additionally, Mrs. Canale also managed a high visibility project under the BECS program, which aimed to support life safety on posts, camps or stations through Land Mobile Radio upgrades. When the project started experiencing difficulties under other leadership, the Product Lead (PL) specifically requested Mrs. Canale to revamp the entire project. She successfully rebuilt the program and completed the project on time. Prior to her work at the US Army, she served as a Video Systems Engineer for the Navy where she installed video systems on naval ships, the FBI and DHS. Mrs. Canale's career began with working at the Hubble Space Telescope, where, as a systems flight engineer, she monitored and maintained the health and safety of the Hubble's Point Control System and Scientific Instruments.

Mrs. Canale received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Frostburg State University and is studying for her PMP certification.

We are delighted to have Mrs. Canale as part of the OIIT and ORS. Please take a few minutes to welcome her to our team!

We also want to express our gratitude to Jimmy Chou for his service as the acting Chief of the OIIT Infrastructure Branch over the past year. His exceptional leadership and commitment to the ORS/OIIT mission have been essential in fostering innovation.

Sincerely,

Terrance D. Branch
