Maintaining a positive culture at ORS is essential to fulfilling our mission. I have spent considerable time reviewing the results of the 2023 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), ORS Contractor Survey, and the Workplace Civility and Equity Survey (CES). I want to emphasize this survey data will not sit on a shelf. Instead, it will lead to direct action with the intent of driving meaningful change.
But a concerning issue that arose from these surveys requires more immediate action -- it involves workplace discrimination and unfairness. Let me be very clear: Harassment and discrimination are unacceptable and will not be tolerated at ORS. Our work to eradicate this behavior starts by recognizing the resources you have at your disposal, and understanding what you can expect from each service.
In the video that follows, I've gathered representatives from our primary NIH offices where I encourage you to report harmful behaviors. They are: NIH Civil; the Office of the Ombuds; the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI); and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). They will explain what each service offers, the level of anonymity you can expect from each office, and the best way to reach out if an issue arises.

I expect all staff to watch the video. Supervisors, I am relying on you to share this with your staff, especially those with intermittent access to email, no later than next Friday, May 17. This issue impacts the entire ORS team, and it will take each and every one of us to make a change.
