10th Annual NIH Take a Hike Day
Thursday, June 8
11:30 AM – 1:30 PM ET
NIH Bethesda Campus – in front of Building 1
It's our 10th anniversary! Join us for the NIH's largest fitness and wellness event, NIH Take a Hike Day. All NIH staff are invited to walk or run around the perimeter of the NIH campus (approximately 3.25 miles) – rain or shine. If you have not participated in this fun lunchtime event in the past, our 10th year is the perfect time to start!
This year's invited guests include: Dr. Gary Gibbons, NHLBI Director; Dr. Peter Kilmarx, representing the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General; and Dr. Don Wright, Acting Executive Director of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.
In addition to the main campus, off campus locations will also host Take a Hike Day activities, including: Democracy Plaza, Executive Boulevard, Fishers Lane, Rockledge and Shady Grove. To register and for additional information, please visit: https://go.usa.gov/x5EHc.
We encourage all NIH staff to participate and request that you obtain your supervisor's approval before registering. Take a Hike Day is a voluntary event. Remember to bring your badge to get back on campus at the conclusion of the walk/run.
Show your team spirit and sponsor a water station!
Tables and water will be supplied – as long as you provide the volunteers! If you would like to sponsor a water station and show your IC spirit, please contact Ms. Shuntrice Holloman at Shuntrice.Holloman@nih.gov or 301-402-8180. Tables will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
This event is sponsored by the NIH Office of Management (OM), Office of Research Services (ORS), Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS).
Now through June, NIH is highlighting wellness-supporting events through the "Spring into Wellness" campaign. To learn more about NIH sponsored events that support your financial, social, career, physical and community well-being, check out the campaign website at: https://go.usa.gov/xXsea.
