Seeking Care for a Personal Illness or Injury at Work
If you experience a personal illness or injury while at work, the Division of Occupational Medicine Services (DOMS) is available to provide evaluation and care during clinic hours. DOMS offers confidential medical services to NIH employees to address non-emergency health concerns that arise during the workday.
How to Seek Help:
Visit your DOMS clinic without an appointment for walk-in care if you are experiencing health concerns that affect your ability to work. Find contact information here.
For serious or life-threatening conditions, immediately call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Precautions When Reporting to OMS with Respiratory Symptoms
If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms such as cough, congestion, sore throat, or fever, please call the OMS before coming to the clinic. This allows staff to assess your symptoms and provide guidance to ensure the safety of all employees and patients. You may be asked to wear a mask upon arrival or follow specific infection control procedures during your visit. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe clinical environment.
Follow-Up Care
If additional medical evaluation or work restrictions are needed, you should seek guidance and coordinate with your personal healthcare provider as appropriate.
DOMS is committed to protecting employee confidentiality and promoting health and safety in the NIH workplace.
