The NIH Division of Police is warning all NIH employees and families to beware of fraud during the government shutdown. Scammers may try to use the offer of a loan or debt forgiveness as a means to obtain your money or personal information. The normal method for reporting this kind of fraud is through the FTC, but the website is blocked due to the shutdown. If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, report the incident to your local police department and consider applying a credit freeze with the three major credit reporting agencies.
