Wilson Drive will temporarily close on Thursday, June 15, from 12:00 pm to 12:15 pm for the 15th Annual NIH "Take-A-Hike Day" event. The NIH Police will assist with traffic control during the event to ensure the safety of the participants. Drivers, please be alert to pedestrians in crosswalks. Pedestrians, always use sidewalks and crosswalks, and ensure you make eye contact before stepping off a curb.

You still have time to register and take part in Take-A-Hike Day. Activities will commence at 11:30 am, and the hike will start promptly at 12:00 pm. Runners, walkers and rollers will proceed down Wilson Drive toward the NIH perimeter pedestrian pathway. They will then make a right turn onto Rockville Pike and continue circling the campus. There will be water stations along the route to help keep you cool and hydrated during the event.

Keep your NIH ID with you at all times – you will need it to regain access to the campus after the hike. Pay attention to all route signage and volunteers as you travel on the campus perimeter.

If you have any questions about the NIH Take-A-Hike Day event, email Louie Brennan.

We also want the day's event to be interactive, so follow us on Twitter @NIHEmplSrvcs and the Wellness@NIH Facebook Group . We encourage you to share photos, short videos, memes - anything from your day's activities using #TakeAHikeNIH.

Individuals with disabilities who need sign language interpreting and/or other reasonable accommodations to participate in this event should contact Linda Kiefer at kieferli@od.nih.gov. Requests should be made at least five days in advance. Call 711 to access Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).
