Tobacco Free NIH Update - Smoking Cessation Support Options

Effective January 2, 2011, all Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) health insurance plans are required to offer Tobacco Cessation Benefits. This includes: full coverage (no enrollee copayments) for seven FDA medications, over the counter drugs for which members obtain a prescription, four counseling sessions per quit attempt and two quit attempts per year. These benefits are not subject to deductibles or annual or lifetime dollar limits.

The following link (http://www.opm.gov/insure/openseason/FEHBP_FactSheet.pdf) will take you to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management's message describing this new benefit.

For employees who do not participate in the FEHB program, the free Smoking Cessation Support Program provided through Federal Occupational Health Services is still an available option.
