September is National Preparedness Month. It is a reminder that emergencies can happen at any time. The Emergency Management program at NIH encourages everyone to consider taking a few simple steps to protect yourself, your family and your friends and colleagues in the event of a disaster:
- Make a Plan: Learn how your household can communicate, reconnect, evacuate or shelter during an emergency.
- Stay Informed: Know where to find official NIH emergency information, alerts and instructions.
- Be Prepared: Explore resources to help you prepare at home and at work.
- Get Connected to AlertNIH: Learn how to receive official NIH emergency notifications by email, phone, text message or the AtHoc mobile app.
- Know Your Workplace Procedures: Review basic procedures, facility guidance, building emergency plans and assembly area information.
- Build a Kit: Check recommended emergency supplies for your home, workplace and vehicle.
