Who do you call if you notice an injured or distressed wild animal on campus? NIH has a group of veterinary staff on campus called the Wildlife Veterinary Volunteers. In cases of wildlife emergencies, call the NIH non-emergency line at (301) 496-5685 or 311, and the on-call veterinarian will be contacted to assist.

For example, today, an injured hawk was seen outside of the MLP-6 parking garage but was not present when the NIH Wildlife Veterinary Volunteers arrived. If you see this injured hawk on campus, please call the NIH non-emergency line.
