NIH Temporarily Prohibiting Non-Emergency Calls to Emergency Communications Center

Due to urgent, extenuating circumstances, the NIH Emergency Communications Center will not be accepting, on a temporary basis, non-emergency calls. Some examples of non-emergency situations would be calls to assist staff locked out of their office/lab, flat tires, and dead car batteries.

This outage does not affect actual "911" emergency calls. Only routine calls intended for the non-emergency number (301-496-5685) will not receive a response. If you have an urgent facility related matter, please contact the Office of Research Facilities Maintenance Line at 301-435-8000 or.

To reiterate, all actual emergencies will be responded to by our fire, rescue and police services, but please limit calls to real emergencies only. This is a temporary situation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will notify the community when normal services are restored.

For questions regarding this message, please contact the ORS Information Line at or 301-594-6677.
