NIH Bike to Work Day Update

Usually, the NIH successfully participates in the National Capital Region (NCR) Bike to Work Day, which this year is scheduled for May 21. However, due to the ongoing pandemic and reduced staff on the NIH campus, it has been decided that the NIH Campus would not participate as an active pit stop this year.

Bike to Work Day is an annual event hosted by the Council of Governments (COG) to promote bicycling in the NCR as an alternative form of transportation. The COG will be still hosting some NCR pit stops but on a smaller scale with significantly more safety protocols than in past years.

Even though the NIH is not hosting a pit stop, we encourage any NIH employee or contractor who wants to participate and plans to commute by bicycle to work that day to register for the event. Please visit - https://www.biketoworkmetrodc.org/ - to register with a pit stop that is closest to your home or worksite. Please remember to adhere to safety and health protocols and wear a mask where appropriate or required.

If you have any questions about participating in Bike to Work Day, please contact Sean Cullinane; sean.cullinane@nih.gov or 301-496-4998.
