Beginning on Monday, December 23, 2024 and continuing through June 2026, the 1570-space MLP-8 Parking Garage on Lincoln Drive (across from the Building 29 complex) will undergo major renovations to address structural and plumbing repairs and waterproofing.
These urgent repairs will commence in a phased approach to minimize the impact to employees, starting with Level 1 and moving up. The garage itself will not close. No more than 17% of overall spaces will be unavailable at any one time. Even with the temporary removal of parking spaces, there should still be ample parking available on the campus, including the available Building 10 Express Shuttle to/from Lot 41 and the south side of Building 10.
General details about the renovation work to be followed in chronological phases are as follows:
- Phase 1 – Level 1 and L1/L2 ramp closed; Entrance/Exit on Level 1 closed; Traffic rerouted to Level 3 entrance; 235 spaces impacted
- Phase 2 – Parts of Level 1 and Level 2 closed (half of garage at any one time); 235 spaces impacted
- Phase 3 – Parts of Levels 2 and 3, and ramp between 2-3 closed; Entrance/Exit on Level 3 closed for part of phase; Traffic rerouted to Level 1 entrance; 266 spaces impacted
- Phase 4 – Parts of Levels 3 and 4, and ramp between 3-4 closed; 266 spaces impacted
- Phase 5 - Parts of Levels 4 and 5, and ramp between 4-5 closed; 266 spaces impacted
- Phase 6 – Parts of Levels 5 and 6, and ramp between 5-6 closed; 266 spaces impacted
- Phase 7 – Parts of Levels 6 and 7, and ramp between 6-7 closed; 266 spaces impacted
Inside of MLP-8, construction areas will be clearly marked. Signage will assist vehicles navigating around work zones during the beginning of each phase. Alternate handicap and reserved parking spaces will be provided within MLP-8 once existing spaces come under repair.
In addition, major repairs to MLP-7 and MLP-10 will conclude in Spring 2025. Construction of the new MLP-12 multi-level parking garage, where the current surface Lot 42 resides, will begin in 2025.
