14th Annual NIH Take-A-Hike Day - In-Person Event

This year, Take-A-Hike Day returns as a live, in-person event. Join us on Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 pm ET on the main campus in front of Building 1. The event kicks off at 12:45 pm with opening remarks at 1:00 pm. Click here to register.

Runners, walkers and rollers will depart for the 3.25-mile trek around the NIH perimeter shortly after 1:00 pm. Take-A-Hike Day is the NIH's largest wellness event with more than 17,000 participants over the past 13 years! All NIH staff are invited to take this opportunity to include physical activity in their day and have fun while doing it. We also want the day's event to be interactive, so follow us on Twitter and the Facebook Group. We encourage you to share photos, short videos, memes; anything from your day's activities using #TakeAHikeNIH.

Take-A-Hike Day is a voluntary event, so we ask that you obtain your supervisor's approval before participating. Be mindful of others and maintain social distancing when appropriate. Masks are not required; however, they are encouraged.

Individuals with disabilities who need sign language interpreting and/or other reasonable accommodations to participate in this event should contact Linda Kiefer at kieferli@od.nih.gov. Requests should be made at least five days in advance. To access Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS), call 711.

For more fitness and well-being information, visit https://www.ors.od.nih.gov/wellness. If you are interested in communicating with other like-minded NIH employees about topics of fitness and well-being, join the interactive Wellness@NIH listserv. This event is sponsored by the Office of Research Services (ORS), Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS), and operated through the Recreation and Welfare Association (R&W) Fitness Program.
